- needs your help!
Meetings are not required for many donation opportunities - drop-offs of donatable items can be arranged! I gather up donations from several crafter in the Long Beach / Torrance / Lomita area for donation to Veteran's Hospital in Long Beach and Los Angeles as well as donations to local organizations that distribute to shelters and outreach centers.
*What you will find here and on meetup.com are a loosely organized group of local volunteers who crochet, knit, quilt, and sew items that are requested and used by a number of local charities, as well as participate in community charity events.
Skill level for yarn crafters isn’t important -(Scroll down for instructional video from YouTube.com)
The need is great and you can help in many ways. If you can do even one crochet or knit stitch, you can help create an afghan! Some of us knit or crochet Granny Squares to be assembled into Afghans. Any Granny Squares that you can donate are appreciated.
Here are the basics about the granny squares that can be used:
1. made with machine washable and dryable 100% acrylic yarn
2. a round of single crochet as a finishing "edge" to allow for easier assembly.
